Hidden Gem in Osu Shopping Street: Seijoji Temple

Seijoji Temple, located in Nagoya's Osu Shopping Street, is a Jodo sect temple. Its mountain name is Tokujusan, and it enshrines the Yaba Enmei Jizo deity, also known by the nickname Yaba Jizo. It is the second pilgrimage site of the Owari Six Jizo and a branch temple of Chion-in. The temple is situated on the site of the former Kobayashi Castle.

Today, the Kobayashi Castle no longer exists, and Seijoji Temple quietly stands across Otsu Street from the Yabaton Building in Osu. Behind the main hall, you can find the Yaba Jizo statue, known for its connection to the Enmei Jizo deity, as well as a stone monument inscribed with a haiku by Basho.
