[Okinawa Cultural Tour] Tsuboya ware and teahouses in Naha City, Tsuboya Yachimun Street

#Tsuboya 焼 is the only remaining southern kiln in Okinawa, named after the pottery house. As early as the Ryukyu Kingdom period, the king moved the Misato Chika, Shuri Hokuchi, and Naha Wakuda kilns to this place, and survived World War II and became a local #cultural treasure. There are many shops selling pottery in the area, blending the old and the new, and you can find the pottery cups you like.

Okinawa #pottery 焼 is divided into rough 焼 and upper 焼. In short, upper 焼 is glazed and uses northern soil, while rough 焼 is unglazed and uses southern soil - that is, the southern part centered on Naha. They like to draw auspicious things such as arabesque, fish, dragons, and stone lions.

I bought two #pottery cups with their own characteristics, one is a colorful pottery cup made by "Hino Ryu Pottery House", and the other is a tea cup with the color of a mango forest, and I don't know who made it. The clerk carefully wrapped the pottery for me, making sure it was shipped back to my home intact. However, the pottery cups made by "Hinolong Pottery House" faded a little after washing with water. I wonder if it was intended?

If you are elegant, you can go to "Uchina Tea House" in the middle of the street to enjoy #brown sugar (Okinawa specialty) giant shaved ice, hot tea, and look at the ancient streets outside the window. It's so happy! Before everything is over, refer to the #Naha City Tsuboya Yaki Museum with reasonable tickets to experience the past history!
