🏝️Recommended Hotels in Naha, Okinawa👍 (Includes car rental information)

I just finished my trip to Okinawa and wanted to share two of the hotels I stayed at. 🏨

Two nights:
≪Mercure Hotel Okinawa Naha≫
〒900-0025 3-3-19 Tsubogawa, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture
＊A two-minute walk from Tsubogawa Light Rail Station

This time, I stayed in a triple room with two single beds and a sofa bed.

Room size: I could spread out two 26-inch beds and a carry-on suitcase, and still have room to walk.

The toilet/bathroom isn't particularly spacious, but it's decent for a Japanese hotel.

Nearby: A FamilyMart is right next to the hotel, and there's a 7-11 further up the road. There are also two supermarkets and a drugstore nearby. A few small restaurants (izakayas, Okinawa noodles, etc.) are about an 8-10 minute walk away. The facilities are quite good. 👍

Bonus:
The room comes with a capsule coffee machine (with two coffee and two tea options).
The TV is equipped with a streaming service. 📺 (YouTube (Netflix)
There's a free drink bar in the lobby on the first floor 🍹 (served until 8:00 PM)
The hotel has a partner car rental company 🚗

Flight and hotel (two nights at the Mercure Hotel), including round-trip transportation, is approximately NT$9,557 per person.

There's a car rental counter in the lobby of the Mercure Hotel Naha.
The staff are very friendly. Even if they don't speak Japanese, they can easily understand simple English with translation software! They'll also help you navigate the interface (the contract also has Chinese translations).

Car rental details:
Car type: Toyota Yaris
Number of people: 5

Rented at 9:00 AM on September 16th
Returned at 9:00 PM on September 19th (*Last return time: 9:00 PM)
Including insurance (full coverage), 3 parking, 4 days, ¥34,000
Equivalent to NT$1,700 per day. The average rental fee for four days is slightly less than NT$1,400 per person.

This rental company offers the following advantages:
The rental fee is not calculated in 24-hour increments.
The hotel staff will also contact the rental company.
Once the rental paperwork is complete, the car will be brought directly to the hotel entrance.
Returning the car also requires parking in front of the hotel entrance, where the staff will inspect it.
The process takes less than 3 minutes.

*Due Since we arrived in Okinawa in the evening, we didn't plan to rent a car on the first day (which would have wasted a day's rental fee). We also didn't choose other rental companies recommended online (e.g., OTS, etc., which require renting and returning from the airport).

So, if you're like us and want to rent and pick up your car directly at the hotel, without having to return it before your flight, this company is perfect for you.

Room type: Triple room

The room is spacious and square, allowing for easy access even with three suitcases. The bathroom is separate from the toilet, so you don't have to worry about competing with your companions for the restroom.

Bonus points:
The hotel is directly connected to the Don Quijote building next door.

Simple cooking is possible in the room.

(Complimentary rental of kitchenware and induction cooktops is available at the counter.)

There's a washer-dryer outside the bathroom.

Average cost per person for three nights: NT$4,017.

Summary:
Overall, I prefer the second hotel!

It's only about a 5-minute walk from the first hotel.

Returning the car to the Mercure Hotel and then walking back to Tokyu Stay is also a quick walk.

So next time, I'll consider renting a car from the Mercure Hotel and staying at Tokyu Stay.
