Mazu Religious Cultural Park

#台湾地方游 One of the most famous attractions in Nangan is the huge Mazu. The Mazu Cultural Park is in Magang, which is also the starting and ending point for many buses. Tajima Port is not a place where tourists usually take boats to other Matsu islands. Most people who come here come to visit the huge statue of Mazu or pay homage to the Tianhou Temple.
You can see the Tianhou Temple as soon as you get off the bus in Magang. At the beach area near the sea in Tianhou Temple, you can see the exhibits of Matsu Art Island, which look like big whales tied with wire.
The huge Mazu statue can be reached from the prayer tunnel or the outdoor stairs. The outdoor stairs are very steep, but after climbing them with reverence and seeing the statue of Mazu, a sense of awe as a pilgrim arises spontaneously. After seeing the Mazu statue, you can overlook the beautiful sea view from the commanding heights, and you can also see many painted horses tied to the railings for praying.
Go down the stairs on the right hand side facing the sea, and you can see the entrance to the prayer tunnel. Its design is based on the custom of worshipping Mazu by crawling under the sedan chair during the procession, so there is a sedan chair at the entrance.
Generally, tour guides will lead tour groups through the prayer tunnel to the Mazu statue, so they don't have to climb very steep and tiring stairs, but it also reduces the sense of shock. You can choose the way that suits you to visit.
