Enjoy Thai cuisine with a stunning oceanfront view!

Okinawa's coastline is home to many exceptional restaurants, and Cafe Turmeric Flower in Nanjo City is a particularly popular spot. Perched on a cliff, this cafe offers an endless ocean view while serving authentic Thai dishes.

At the entrance of Cafe Turmeric Flower, you'll notice the Thai SELECT AWARD 2021 emblem, a certification granted by the Thai government.

Interestingly, we were served by a friendly lady with a Taiwanese accent, as her husband hails from Chiayi, Taiwan. It was quite amusing.

She recommended the cafe's lunch special: Thai curry fried chicken leg with turmeric fried rice (1,899 yen), which comes with a hot soup and a cold drink. Concerned about the portion size, we also ordered a single serving of Thai-style seafood stir-fried noodles (1,391 yen).

When the lunch special arrived, we were surprised by the generous portion. The turmeric fried rice was aromatic, with the turmeric flavor becoming more pronounced as we chewed.

The fried chicken legs were two in number, contrary to the single leg shown in the menu photo. The chicken was fried without batter, resulting in crispy skin and tender meat. Paired with the Thai curry sauce, it was even more flavorful.

The single order of Thai-style seafood stir-fried noodles was also a large portion. The chef used tomato sauce for seasoning, complemented by the distinct aroma of dried shrimp. The dish included six fresh and plump shrimp. Before eating, remember to squeeze the lemon slice and mix it with the accompanying peanut powder to enhance the dish's layered flavors.
