📍 Nara National Museum Review

I visited the Nara National Museum, located inside Nara Park. It wasn't as large as I expected, but the exhibits were rich and the quiet atmosphere was great. Perhaps because most of the artifacts are Buddhist, the overall atmosphere was serene and sacred. 🕊️ Inside, a Meiji-era building and a modern new building are connected, and the unique atmosphere of the old building was quite charming.

The museum focuses on Buddhist art, such as Buddhist statues and Buddhist paintings, and each piece was exquisitely detailed. The dim lighting made it easy to appreciate, and the lack of crowds allowed for a leisurely viewing. The explanations for the pieces were mainly in English and Japanese, so it was a bit difficult to understand. Still, the artwork itself had a strong presence, so it was impressive enough to simply look at.

Nara Park is right next to the museum, so it was easy to plan a tour. A deer viewing → museum → Todaiji Temple tour was perfect. 🦌🎋 I think they occasionally host special exhibitions, but when I went, only the permanent exhibition was open. Overall, it's a quiet and well-organized space, making it a great place to take a break between temple visits in Nara.
