Tongbian Mountain is located in the southern part of Guangfeng District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, at the northern foot of the eastern section of the Wuyi Mountain Range. It is 38 kilometers from the county seat. Its main peak, at 1,534.6 meters above sea level, lies at the junction of Guangfeng District, Pucheng County, Fujian Province, and Wuyishan City. The Qing Dynasty poet Xu Zhaolun once ascended Tongbian Mountain and composed a poem: "The proud first peak in the southeast, half-opening a spiritual realm amidst the white clouds." Since then, Tongbian Mountain has earned the reputation of "the first peak in the southeast." In November 2002, Tongbian Mountain was designated a National Forest Park. In February 2016, it was designated a National AAAA-level scenic spot.
