The Giza Pyramids are representative royal tombs of ancient Egypt, built on the west bank of the Nile River in the Giza region, approximately 13 kilometers west of Cairo, the capital of Egypt. They are also known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
There are three major pyramids in Giza. - The Pyramid of Khufu
Approximately 146 meters tall (currently approximately 138 meters), it is the only surviving structure among the Seven Wonders of the World. It was built with over 2.3 million limestone blocks. Inside, visitors can see the King's Chamber, the Queen's Chamber, and the Grand Gallery. - The Pyramid of Khafre
The second largest pyramid, approximately 136 meters tall, retains part of its original limestone casing at its peak. The Great Sphinx stands directly in front of it. - The Pyramid of Menkaure
The third and smallest pyramid, approximately 65 meters tall, is surrounded by smaller pyramids and tombs for the queens.
The Sphinx
Located in front of the Pyramid of Khafre, this massive pyramid is approximately 73 meters long and 20 meters high. This is a stone statue.
It has the body of a lion and the face of a pharaoh, symbolizing the pharaoh's power and the protection of the sun god Ra.
