Taipei-New Taipei|Juming Museum: A dialogue between art and nature

#Taipei Itinerary

Located at the junction of Taipei and New Taipei City, Juming Museum is an art sanctuary covering an area of 11 hectares, which was planned and designed by the international sculptor Ju Ming himself. From architectural vocabulary to landscape configuration, the artist's profound thoughts on "people, nature, and space" are everywhere. Even in the drizzle, it is still difficult to conceal its unique poetic charm.

When you enter the museum, the first thing that catches your eye is the large area of greenery and exposed concrete buildings. The hard lines and soft grasses set off each other, just like the philosophical reproduction of "hardness and softness" in Ju Ming's sculptures. The indoor exhibition hall is centered around three major series: "Humanity", "Sports" and "Tai Chi", and displays hundreds of bronze, wood and stone sculptures. The most eye-catching work is the "Tai Chi Series" - the dynamic shapes of bending, pushing hands and turning, through rough sword techniques and smooth arcs, solidify the charm of oriental martial arts into eternal contemporary art.

The outdoor park is even more surprising: giant sculptures are scattered on the undulating lawn, and the Qixing Mountain in the distance and the pools and trails in the museum form a "borrowed scenery" aesthetic. On sunny days, the sun shines through the leaves onto the surface of the sculpture, and the shadows sway in the wind, like a dynamic light and shadow theater; on rainy days, water droplets slide down the edges of the sculpture, against the gray sky, adding a sense of vast poetry. Ju Ming once said, “Art should go beyond the art gallery and engage in dialogue with nature.” This park is the perfect implementation of his philosophy.

Whether you are an art lover or a nature embracer, Juming Museum can bring you double touches. If you have enough time, you may sit in the museum's cafe and enjoy the garden view through the floor-to-ceiling windows, or take a walk along the trail and let the harmony of art and nature permeate every inch of your breath. This is not only an artistic monument to Ju Ming, but also a spiritual station that guides viewers to "look back at tradition from the contemporary and reflect the soul with nature."
