🎈Wat Chomphuwek, an ancient temple in Nonthaburi Province, was built during the reign of King Narai the Great during the Ayutthaya period, around 1682-1757, by Mon refugees from the Mon Kingdom. Situated on a high hill, the temple is peaceful, hence the name Wat Chomphuwiwek. Inside the temple is the old Ubosot, a Maha Udom-style Ubosot (ordination hall), with only one door. Inside, beautiful paintings by Nonthaburi artists from the mid-Ayutthaya period feature the image of the Earth Goddess squeezing her hair, considered the most beautiful in the world. Wat Chomphuwek also houses several other important landmarks, including the Mutao Chedi, the new Ubosot, the Phra Maha Chakkraphat Wihan, the Phra Phutthabat Wihan, and the Earth Goddess squeezing her hair.
