✈︎ Best Season: Rainy season (December to March) for the mirror-like effect, dry season (May to October) for the pristine white salt flats
✈︎ Base City: Uyuni. About a 1-hour flight from La Paz
✈︎ Tours: Options range from half-day to multi-day tours, with sunset and stargazing tours being particularly popular
✈︎ Essential Cold Weather Gear: Temperatures can drop below freezing in the mornings and evenings
✈︎ Don’t Forget Sunglasses and Sunscreen: The reflection off the salt surface is intense
*Located at an altitude comparable to Mount Fuji, the guides often keep you moving to take photos, so it can be quite physically demanding 😂
The Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia, home to the world’s largest natural mirror. During the rainy season, the water reflects the sky, creating a breathtaking otherworldly view! Joining a tour is the most common way to visit, but since the scenery varies depending on the weather and season, it’s recommended to plan for a slightly flexible stay. While I didn’t stay there myself, there are hotels made entirely of salt, so if that piques your interest, it’s worth considering! I hope this information helps anyone planning their visit ☺️🇧🇴
