If you're visiting Penang Hill and feel it's a bit of a waste to just enjoy the view and leave, there's a must-visit spot for you: The Habitat. It's a special place where you can walk through the tropical rainforest and experience the untouched nature of Penang.
A Stroll Through the Tropical Rainforest
As soon as you enter and purchase your ticket, the refreshing forest air greets you. The Habitat is an eco-friendly park set within a 130-million-year-old pristine tropical rainforest, and just walking through it feels like a cleansing experience. You can hear birds chirping between the trees, and butterflies and small insects fluttering around—it's truly a "living forest."
Canopy Walk & Observation Deck
The most memorable part was the Canopy Walk. Walking along the bridge that stretches above the forest felt like strolling among the treetops. Looking down at the lush greenery below, I could truly feel I was in the heart of nature.
At the Curtis Crest Treetop Walk observation deck, you'll be treated to a stunning 360-degree panoramic view. You can see the Penang Bridge and the sea in the distance, and at that moment, I thought, "Coming to Penang was absolutely worth it!" If you visit around sunset, you can enjoy the romantic golden hues of the evening sky.
An Experience of Coexisting with Nature
The walking trails are dotted with informational signs about the plants and animals, making it not just a stroll but an educational and enjoyable experience. If you're lucky, you might spot monkeys or exotic birds. I was fortunate enough to encounter a vibrant swarm of butterflies.
Travel Tips ✨
• Admission: Separate ticket required from the Penang Hill cable car fare.
• Recommended Time: Mornings are cool and refreshing. If you want to catch the sunset, visit in the late afternoon.
• Essentials: Comfortable walking shoes and water are a must, as you'll likely sweat while walking through the forest.
• Duration: A leisurely walk takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Conclusion
The Habitat is not just a tourist spot but a healing space where you can connect with nature. Walking quietly through the forest trails and feeling the sky and trees simultaneously was the most peaceful moment of my Penang trip. 🌿
