The brilliantly colored "Phoenix Glancing in All Directions," a masterpiece by Katsushika Hokusai from his later years, covers the entire ceiling of the 21-tatami-mat main hall.

The phoenix, painted with paints generously incorporating precious minerals, is so vivid it's hard to believe it was created over 170 years ago.

The frog-fighting pond is located in the backyard of the main hall.

It is said that Kobayashi Issa, who visited this temple, saw this frog fight and composed this haiku.
