Step into one of Japan’s most celebrated landscapes at Korakuen Garden, a masterpiece of Edo-period design and one of the country’s Three Great Gardens. Located just beside Okayama Castle, this serene retreat blends wide lawns, reflective ponds, tea houses, and winding streams into a harmonious and ever-changing canvas.
Commissioned in 1700 by the local daimyo (lord), Korakuen was designed for strolling—offering a fresh perspective with every turn. Seasonal beauty reigns supreme here: cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, crimson maples in autumn, and snow-draped pines in winter. Each visit feels like a new poem written in nature.
Take a break with traditional matcha tea at the garden’s teahouse, walk across graceful bridges, or photograph the perfect view of Okayama Castle reflected in the pond. It’s a place of peace, tradition, and beauty—just minutes from the city center.
📍 Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan
🕘 Open daily, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (seasonal hours vary)
