The name "Manzamo" comes from the fact that when King Shokei of the Ryukyu Kingdom visited this place in the 18th century, he praised it as "enough for ten thousand people to sit on ("ke" means "field" in Okinawan).
As the name suggests, a natural lawn spreads on the cape, and beyond that sits a strange rock shaped like an elephant's trunk. It is also known as a famous spot for watching the sunset over the East China Sea, and its charm is that it shows a completely different look depending on the time of day.
