
The Donglin Grand Canyon of Mount Lushan is located deep in the heart of Mount Lushan, nestled within the Donglin Temple , the ancestral home of the Pure Land School of Chinese Buddhism . The scenic area comprises two major sections: Jiandao Gorge and Woyunlong. The canyon stretches nearly 10 kilometers, starting at Guling Street Park and ending at Donglin Temple along National Highway 105. It is known as " China's Quaternary Glacial Canyon " and the " Birthplace of Chinese Hermit Culture . "
Due to the influence of Quaternary glaciers, the main ecological scenic section is sandwiched between Xiaotianchi Mountain and Olive Mountain, forming a deep canyon with steep slopes and deep valleys, dangerous cliffs on the sides of the valley, and long streams flowing in the valley. This landform has created the largest waterfall group in Lushan Mountain.
