[Osaka Prefecture/Namba Yasaka Shrine] A giant lion welcomes you

During the reign of Emperor Nintoku (313-399), it is said that the shrine first enshrined Gozu Tenno, a Shinto-Buddhist deity, to quell an epidemic that had broken out in the area.

The highlight of Namba Yasaka Shrine is the Shishiden, a huge lion-covered building.
It's a really big lion, 12m high, 11m wide, and 10m deep.
Perhaps it's because of the attention it gets on social media, but I was surprised to see that there were more foreign visitors than Japanese worshippers!
It's easy to take photos of the Shishiden, but because there are fortune-telling slips on display, it was surprisingly difficult to take photos as there was a crowd in front of the main hall.
