On the other side of Osaka Castle Park, there is a very popular shrine hidden - Toyokuni Shrine. The shrine was built to commemorate Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a legendary figure from Japan's Warring States Period.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi is one of the three great heroes of the Japanese Warring States Period, along with Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu. He inherited Oda Nobunaga's legacy and unified Japan in 1590. Osaka Castle was also built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi himself.
If you are interested in the story of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the history of Japan's Warring States period, you may wish to travel to Osaka yourself and be sure to visit Toyokuni Shrine.
