Osaka, Japan is a world-renowned tourist and vacation city, attracting thousands of visitors every day. There are many attractions in Osaka, and this time we will introduce a famous Osaka landmark: Osaka Castle Tenshukaku.
During the shogunate period in Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi ordered the construction of the first Osaka Castle in 1583, which took 15 years to complete. Although Toyotomi Hideyoshi achieved the unification of Japan, the Toyotomi family was defeated shortly after his death by the famous general Tokugawa Ieyasu. The original Osaka Castle was destroyed by fire, and it was not until 1620 that the Tokugawa family rebuilt the second Osaka Castle on the same site. Due to historical reasons, the Osaka Castle we see today is the third generation, which has been converted into a park and museum.
Tenshukaku Museum
The Tenshukaku in the center of Osaka Castle is 8 stories tall. From the top, you can see the entire Osaka Castle Park and the cityscape of Osaka. Starting from the 8th floor and going down floor by floor, the history and artifacts of Osaka Castle vividly come to life along a timeline featuring Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s birth, the great battles between the Toyotomi and Tokugawa, and the Tokugawa period of Osaka Castle.
Tips
1. Osaka Castle Park is free to enter, but a ticket is required to visit inside Osaka Tenshukaku. The park also features gardens, temples, boat rides, and other attractions.
