Having visited Osaka Castle many times, this time we entered from JR Loop Line's Osaka Castle Park Station and walked south along the castle passage towards the JR Morinomiya Station exit. Along the way is a lively cherry blossom walking route. During cherry blossom season, Osaka Castle Park is completely surrounded by cherry trees, with picnic mats spread under the flowers. The crowd is dense but the atmosphere is joyful, as if the entire park is boiling with the flower season.
During the cherry blossom season (approximately from late March to mid-April), over 3,000 Somei Yoshino and weeping cherry trees bloom in Osaka Castle. Visitors can not only take classic photos of the castle, cherry blossoms, and their reflections by the moat but also pay to enter the Nishinomaru Garden for closer views. During the full bloom period, vendors set up in the park, offering everything from takoyaki, egg cakes, and French fries to small food trucks. Enjoying local Osaka snacks while viewing the flowers is a special reason why the cherry blossom season is so lively. Near the Morinomiya exit, there is also a large children's playground where kids can burn off some energy.
Interestingly, there is a Starbucks at both ends of this route (Osaka Castle Park store & Morinomiya store), so no matter which direction you start from, you can enjoy coffee while viewing the cherry blossoms along the way, making it very relaxing.
