Okonomiyaki Rikimaru food review: Wagyu heaven, great value for money!

The Shinsaibashi branch of the renowned Osaka yakiniku restaurant "Yakitani Rikimaru" is conveniently located on the 4th floor of the IS Building at 2-1-32 Shinsaibashi-suji, a 3-minute walk from the subway station. With nine branches across Osaka, this location has thousands of positive reviews and is often packed during dinner. Reservations are highly recommended via the official website or Japanese app to avoid long lines.
The restaurant's lively atmosphere features modern, minimalist decor, ample seating, and private rooms perfect for small groups. The friendly wait staff supports Chinese tablet ordering, and the menu is easy to understand. There are two set menus: the 2980 yen basic version includes classic cuts like tongue and rib-eye; I opted for the 3480 yen premium version, which unlocks an all-you-can-eat A4-A5 Wagyu beef meal, including diaphragm steak, an assortment of offal, and seafood. 120 minutes of unlimited ordering, served with unlimited refills of premium Koshihikari rice—super satisfying!
The signature "Premium Salted Tongue" is cut 1 cm thick, charcoal-grilled to a crispy exterior and tender interior. Sprinkled with salt and drizzled with lemon juice, it melts in your mouth—incredibly delicious! The A5 Wagyu rib-eye is evenly marinated, bursting with juiciness when cooked medium-rare, offering a sweet and rich flavor that surpasses many high-end yakiniku restaurants. The diaphragm steak is chewy and tender, grilled with soy sauce for a rich, layered texture. The offal, like the heart and intestines, is fresh and flavorless, grilled to a crispy finish. The seafood is stunning: large scallops grilled to a golden brown, juicy and sweet; the shrimp are tender and tender, complemented by a vegetable platter. The karaage chicken and side dishes add variety and a balanced flavor profile.
The charcoal grilling process is a comforting experience, and the waiter will flip the meat to prevent it from burning. The only minor drawback is the long wait during peak season, and the meat can get cold if you're slow to order. However, the quality of the Wagyu beef rivals that of high-end restaurants, yet the prices are so affordable, making it an unbeatable value! Afterward, head downstairs to explore Dotonbori. The night view and satisfying meal are a perfect Osaka night out. Highly recommended for meat lovers—it's a true Wagyu feast!
