🛶Otaru Canal was once a prosperous port with many warehouses along the coast.
Of course there are also ships. Many Japanese ships end with "丸", which one interpretation means favorite things, while another interpretation means a complete success.
🛶Some of the surrounding buildings have "鯱" on their roofs, with a tiger's head and a fish's body.
Legend has it that when a fire occurs in a building, water will be sprayed to put out the fire, and he is the patron saint of the building.
🛶The warehouse complex near the Otaru Canal is still well preserved and has been revitalized. There are restaurants and shops there, and many tourists come here to visit and consume.
🛶The landscape of Otaru Canal has its own unique charm whether it is day or night. The 63 gas lamps along the canal make you feel like you are walking on the streets of the Taisho period.
