Otaru Day Trip

Traveling from Sapporo to Otaru by JR train takes about 40 minutes.

There is a bus in front of the station that goes to the hotel (Otaru Grizz High-Class Hotel). The hotel is conveniently located near the tourist area and also close to the Tenguyama Ropeway Station. Although the hotel is not very large, it is quite comfortable. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk to Otaru Canal, making it very convenient to stroll to the canal at night to enjoy the night view, especially in winter. If you plan to visit Tenguyama, it’s recommended to check the weather and the ropeway website beforehand to avoid a wasted trip.

Near the station, there is a famous local restaurant called Wakadori Jidai. You can give it a try as their seafood and fried chicken are quite good. If you’re interested, you can also take some fried food back to the hotel, enjoy a drink with friends, and have a chat.
