Hierapolis, an ancient city in the Denizli province of southwestern Turkey.
The city was founded around 190 BC by the Attalid dynasty of Pergamon.
It later became part of the Roman Empire. Hierapolis was rebuilt and renovated in the ancient Roman style.
It features a beautifully restored Roman theater, a large open-air theater that could accommodate thousands of people. It has an intricate stage and intricate carvings.
