A trip to Pattani is never complete without spending a day with the Barahom community, and I bet this was one of those unique experiences you wouldn't want to miss.
We took a peaceful boat ride along the Di Chae River, passing mangroves and soaking in the quiet beauty of the surroundings. The best part was lunch, they called it Nasi Ideh Kampung, was served on the boat – a spread of Malay kampung-style dishes like deep-fried ikan selayang, ikan masak lemak, ulam with sambal and budu, paku masak lemak, and telur dadar. Everything tasted so delicious and flavourful, just like how it's authentically made in the kampung.
Sitting there, surrounded by nature, enjoying the river breeze, and sharing a meal—it felt so simple yet special. A day like this reminds me how food and culture are so deeply connected.
