Wat Kasattrathirat Worawihan, an ancient temple from the Ayutthaya period, is located on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River, outside the island city, directly opposite the Phra Sri Suriyothai Chedi.
Inside the main chapel, the temple houses Phra Buddha Kasattrathirat in the Mara Vichai posture. This is one of Ayutthaya's revered sites where visitors often come to pray for kindness, popularity, and career success. Additionally, worshippers can drape cloth over Phra Buddha Chana Mara to enhance their fortune. The temple also features many other sacred objects for worship.
The main chapel is home to "Phra Buddha Kasattrathirat," a statue measuring 2.99 meters in height and 2.09 meters in width at its base. The statue is seated in a cross-legged position in the Mara Vichai posture, with a square-shaped face. It has been beautifully adorned with lacquer and gold leaf. The ceiling is decorated with golden patterns of royal insignias, circular motifs, and rice sheaf designs alternating on a red background. The ceiling features lacquered wood with gold leaf, while the floor is paved with Italian marble, a gift from King Rama V to Phra Kru Vinayanuwatikhun (Thong Dhammisirichot), a former abbot, as an offering to the Buddha.
Phra Buddha Chana Mara is situated in front of Phra Buddha Kasattrathirat. Worshippers often drape cloth over this statue to pray for happiness, prosperity, and success in business without obstacles.
Opening hours: Daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
When visiting Ayutthaya, don't forget to stop by this temple to pay respects and enhance your fortune and life success. Fun fact: This temple is one of the few that were not burned down in the past, making it a valuable site for preservation and worship.
