Wat Thammarat, formerly known as Wat Mukharat, is a former royal temple during the Ayutthaya period. It is located in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, next to the ancient palace and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Wat Thammarat was built by Phraya Thammarat, son of King Sai Nam Phueng. Therefore, it is assumed that it was built before the establishment of Ayutthaya. It was originally called Wat Mukharat, but later changed its name to Wat Thammarat after its creator.
If you imagine going back in time, today it must be beautiful and magnificent. The large pillars and roof must be very high. The art looks a bit Khmer. If you come at night, you will definitely feel goosebumps.
Overall, it is a temple that I recommend you to visit. The temple is beautiful. The head of a large Buddha statue that you have never seen in other temples.
