Off-the-Beaten-Path Cities for National Day Reverse Tourism

Don’t want to be stuck in crowds this National Day? Come to Nanji Island in Wenzhou to escape the masses🌊! A two-day, one-night trip from Hangzhou to this lesser-known island offers great value and lets you avoid the crowds. Every photo you take looks like a masterpiece~

🚢 Itinerary:
DAY 1:
Take the high-speed train from Hangzhou to Aojiang Station in the morning (about 3 hours)
Taxi to Aojiang Wharf and take a boat to the island (about 90 minutes by boat)

Head straight to 【Dashao Beach】🏖️ after arriving
The longest beach on the island, with sand so soft it feels like walking on cotton~
Open all day

Have seafood at a beachside stall for lunch🦐
Recommended: "Fisherman’s Stir-fry" with freshly caught hairtail fish and swimming crab so fresh it’ll blow your mind!

In the afternoon, visit 【Sanpanwei Scenic Area】🌄
The best sunset spot on the island, with an Instagram-worthy lawn perfect for photos
Open 7:00-18:00

Stay overnight at a seaside guesthouse on the island🌌
We stayed at "Wanghai Mountain Villa," with rooms facing the sea, costing just over 200 RMB per person!

DAY 2:
Wake up early to watch the 【Longtou Reef Sunrise】🌅
Recommended to start at 5 AM; watching the sun rise over the sea is breathtaking

Morning hike along 【Meilingju Trail】🚶‍♀️
The seaside boardwalk where Chiang Kai-shek and his wife once strolled, with stunning scenery all along the way

Lunch in town with specialty yellow croaker noodles🍜
The "Island Family" restaurant’s pickled vegetable yellow croaker noodles are the freshest I’ve ever had!

In the afternoon, visit the 【Wenzhou Alum Mine Ruins】 before heading back
An industrial heritage site known as the "World Alum Capital," perfect for snapping industrial-style photos

✈️ Travel tips:
1. Be sure to book your boat tickets in advance through "Nanji Passenger Transport"! Last-minute tickets during National Day are almost impossible to get
2. Island transportation mainly relies on buses and walking, so wear comfortable shoes
3. Allow plenty of time for your return trip; ferry service may be suspended in strong winds

🍽️ Must-try foods:
✔️ Yellow croaker noodles (each place on the island has its own recipe)
✔️ Yantou hairtail fish (fatter and more delicious than usual)
✔️ Pingyang stir-fried rice noodles (full of wok hei, super tasty)
✔️ Dongtou seaweed balls (crispy outside, tender inside, very unique)

📸 Photo and outfit suggestions:
- Solid color dress with a straw hat (perfect for the beach)
- Denim jacket + Martin boots (great match for the industrial ruins)
- Don’t forget a scarf; it can be a lifesaver when the sea breeze is strong

By the way! The island’s signal is weak, so remember to bring some cash and a power bank~ This hidden gem island lets you avoid crowds and get amazing shots. Hurry before it gets too popular!
