🚗 Transportation Guide

Self-driving/Chartered Car

Depart from Xichang city, drive south along G108 National Highway for about 30 km, and the journey takes about 1 hour. There are many curves on the mountain road, so drive carefully.

The parking fee at the scenic spot is about CNY 10–20/day.

Public Transportation

Take the direct shuttle bus to the scenic spot from Xichang Tourism Distribution Center (rolling departures from 7:30–17:30 daily, about CNY 50/person for a round trip).

The bus from Xichang to Puge County passes the entrance of Luoji Mountain Scenic Area, but there are fewer buses, so you need to check the time in advance.

🎫 Tickets and Opening Hours

Tickets: Peak season (April–November) CNY 160/person, off-season (December–March) CNY 100/person.

Sightseeing bus: The sightseeing bus in the scenic area is CNY 50/person (one way). It is recommended to buy a round-trip ticket.

Cable car: Heilongtan cable car round trip CNY 120/person (optional, save energy).

Opening hours: 8:00–17:30 (extended to 18:00 in peak season).

Recommended visiting time: 1 day, 2 days for in-depth tour.

🏞️ Must-see Attractions

Heilongtan

Alpine lake, the lake is as green as jade, surrounded by wildflowers in summer, and icefall wonders in winter.

How to play: Walk along the wooden boardwalk to Xiancao Lake, which takes about 2 hours and is suitable for taking pictures.

Xiancao Lake (Feipugu)

The core area of the azalea flower sea. From May to June, azaleas are in full bloom all over the mountains, and red leaves are like fire in autumn.

Tips: The light is best in the early morning or evening. It is recommended to bring a wide-angle lens.

Luoji Temple

Ancient temple of the Ming Dynasty, Tibetan Buddhist temple, overlooking the panoramic view of Luoji Mountain, and feel the religious culture of the Yi people.

Huangcaoping Pasture

Alpine meadow, green grass in summer, suitable for camping and stargazing (requires scenic spot permission).

Dacaohe Hot Spring

Natural sulfur spring near the scenic spot, soak in the hot spring to relieve fatigue (about 30 minutes drive from the scenic spot).

📅 Itinerary Recommendation

One-day tour:
Xichang city → Luoji Mountain Scenic Area (sightseeing bus to Heilongtan) → hike to Xiancao Lake → Azalea Flower Sea → return trip.

Two-day tour:
Day 1: Luoji Mountain hiking (Heilongtan → Xiancao Lake → Azalea Flower Sea) → stay in Luoji Mountain Town.
Day 2: Luoji Temple blessing → Dacaohe Hot Spring → return to Xichang.

Luoji Mountain Town:

Xichang City:

⚠️ Precautions

Altitude sickness: The altitude is high, avoid strenuous exercise, you can prepare Rhodiola Rosea and oxygen cylinders (available in pharmacies outside the scenic area).

Wearing equipment: You need to bring a windproof jacket in summer, a down jacket + non-slip shoes in winter, and a raincoat in the rainy season.

Environmental protection requirements: It is forbidden to litter, and drones are prohibited in some areas.

Respect customs: Do not take pictures of locals at will, you need to take off your hat and not step on the threshold when entering the temple.

🌄 Best Travel Season

May–June: Azalea Flower Sea (more than 30 kinds of azaleas are in full bloom).

September–November: Colorful autumn colors, red leaves and meadows intertwined.
