DAY 1
1. Noon: After arriving in Huangdao, check in at the Qingdao Mangrove Tree Coral Hotel. (It’s too hot in the afternoon, so rest with your parents in the sea-view room and order takeout.)
2. Evening: Head to City Balcony (a scenic 1km stroll along the beach from the hotel). Here, you’ll find vast sandy shores and beautiful sea views, perfect for a leisurely walk. For dining, try the Seafood Market area (full of great eateries)—don’t miss the Sea Worm Rice (portion is huge, recommended for three people).
3. Night: After dinner, return to the hotel the same way. You can go tide-pooling for small crabs right at the hotel entrance.
DAY 2 (A more tiring day)
1. Cycling Route (rent an e-bike in advance; note Huangdao has no bike lanes—stay safe!): Start from Mangrove Tree Coral Hotel, ride west along Binhai Avenue to Yumingzui, the westernmost tip of Huangdao, known as the "Gateway to the Sea." The views are stunning, with waves crashing against the rocks. Continue along the coast to Liansan Island, where three small islands connect at low tide—great for catching crabs in the crevices! Then head to Tangdao Bay National Wetland Park, featuring expansive wetlands and lakeside walks.
2. Dining: Pass fishing villages and towns along the way, with plenty of seafood spots. Try freshly caught seafood like steamed crab or spicy clams near Liansan Island. Or pack snacks (bread, fruit) for a picnic in Tangdao Bay Park.
DAY 3
1. Morning: Early tide-pooling (parents wake up early)—enjoy the cool morning breeze while strolling the coastline.
2. Noon: Return to the hotel for takeout (request late checkout until 14:00).
3. Afternoon: Depart (recommend taking the train from Qingdao West Station—a taxi to Qingdao Station costs ¥60, plus ¥10 tunnel toll).
Tips!!
1. With parents, keep the itinerary relaxed—schedule breaks to avoid exhaustion.
2. E-bike rentals: Time it wisely (we paid ¥59 for 5 hours). Cycling in Huangdao isn’t ideal (no bike lanes), but the views make it worth it.
3. Check weather and tide schedules in advance for better tide-pooling plans.
