The Bimmah Sinkhole in Oman, located about an hour southeast of the capital Muscat, is a massive natural pool formed by a collapsed limestone bedrock. It's a signature natural attraction in Oman.
Locally known as "Hawiyat Najm" (meaning "where a star fell"), it's said to have been formed by a meteorite.
The sinkhole is approximately 50-70 meters in diameter and up to 20 meters deep, filled with crystal-clear emerald to turquoise water.
Because it's connected to the ocean underground, the water is salty. Swim freely or dip your feet in the water, where you can experience a natural spa experience as "doctor fish" peck your feet!
The steep cliffs, rugged rocks, and vibrant waters create an exotic landscape. Admission is free, so be sure to stop by!
However, changing rooms and showers are limited, so be prepared. Also, be sure to bring shoes, as there are many slippery rocks.
