In Rongshui, Guangxi, I discovered a living Miao museum that seems to "breathe"—Shuanglonggou Mengwu Miao Village! There’s no over-commercialization here, only the aroma of glutinous rice drifting from the stilted wooden houses and the jingling sound of silver jewelry.
🚌 Transportation: Drive and navigate to "Shuanglonggou Scenic Area," or take the high-speed train to Sanjiang South Station and then a 1-hour taxi ride. It’s recommended to stay overnight in a Miao village guesthouse, where opening the window reveals misty terraced fields.
📸 Must-Experience:
1️⃣ Learn batik dyeing with a Miao grandmother early in the morning and make your own blue-and-white intangible cultural heritage handkerchief.
2️⃣ In the afternoon, wear traditional Miao costumes for photos; rent a full set of silver jewelry for 20 yuan, with the bamboo sea waterfall as a stunning backdrop.
3️⃣ At night, join the bonfire party, drink the welcoming wine, and dance the stepping hall dance; the firelight reflecting on pleated skirts is truly magical.
🍲 Food TIP: Be sure to try oil tea paired with sour fish! The village’s long-table feast costs about 50 yuan per person, and the glutinous rice wine is fragrant and smooth without a hangover~
⭐ Hidden Experience: On rainy mornings, walk to the mountain behind the village for a chance to see a fairyland scene where the sea of clouds flows over the stilted houses! It’s best to start on Friday, as there’s an intangible cultural heritage Miao embroidery market on weekends.
Time here moves slowly, slow enough to hear the sound of embroidery needles dropping. Next time, invite your girlfriends to come and be "Miao girls" for a few days!
