Samut Prakan...a city close to Bangkok, but just as fun!
This Samut Prakan trip started off chaotic when a good friend called at 5 a.m. to wake us up, saying "Traffic jam!" even though our house is only 5 minutes away! But that's okay! The morning chaos prepared us for the fun to come.
Day 1: Explore Ancient City...and discover even more ancient food!
Upon arriving in Samut Prakan, we immediately headed to Ancient City. It's like Thailand condensed into one place, complete with temples, palaces, and monumental replicas of ancient sites. We took photos until our batteries ran out. But the highlight was finding a shop selling traditional Thai desserts. The grandmother who owned the shop told us the recipe dates back to the Ayutthaya period! We decided to give it a try. The funniest part was when one of my friends accidentally dropped a dessert onto a foreign tourist's shoe!
Day 2: Crocodile Adventure...and Thrilling Shows!
After recharging, on our second day, we headed to the Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo. Not only were there giant crocodiles, but there were also thrilling shows that made us sweat! The show was a crocodile show where the brave performers put their heads into the crocodile's mouth! One of my friends turned pale and said, "What am I doing here?" But I endured it until the end because it was more exciting than watching a war movie!
Afterward, we went for a stroll at Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market. There were so many delicious foods that it was dizzying. We ate everything from sizzling hot pan-fried oysters to the sweet and savory Khanom Thuai. And, of course, we couldn't miss trying the Lod Chong Wat Chedi, so sweet and creamy we had to ask for more!
Day 3: Returning home with rumbling stomachs...not because we were hungry, but because we missed it!
Before leaving, we stopped in Bang Pu to watch the thousands of seagulls swooping by during the winter. Seeing so many birds was truly impressive. Finally, we made our way to Wat Mongkol Kothawas, or Wat Luang Pho Pan, to pay our respects and make a wish.
This trip to Samut Prakan taught us that the most enjoyable journey isn't about perfect planning, but about letting the little things create colorful and memorable stories.
