💞Recommended reasons:
Hokkaido is a place with four distinct seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, flowers in summer, maple and ginkgo trees in autumn, and snow in winter. If you want to enjoy maple leaves and ginkgo trees, the most convenient place in Sapporo is Hokkaido University. Due to the high latitude of Hokkaido, the best time to enjoy maple leaves and ginkgo trees is November. Hokkaido University is the largest university in Japan, and it would take at least half a day to fully explore it. In addition to the most popular Hokkaido University Ginkgo Avenue and Hokkaido University Central Dining Hall, other important attractions include the Furukawa Auditorium, the Clark Statue, the poplar trees, and the museum.
Transportation Tips: Hokkaido University is located on the north side of JR Sapporo Station. It takes 10 minutes to walk directly from the Central North Exit of JR Sapporo Station. If you are coming from other places, you can take the Sapporo Metro Namboku Line to Kita-Jujutsujo Station, exit from Exit 2 and walk 6 minutes to Ginkgo Avenue.
The "Ginkgo Avenue" on the Hokkaido University campus is about 380 meters long, with 70 ginkgo trees on both sides. It is a holy place for admiring ginkgo every autumn and winter, but it is actually also a place for admiring maple leaves. Due to different varieties, ginkgo leaves will only turn yellow, while maple leaves will turn yellow and then red. However, ginkgo and red leaves are plants that belong to the same season, so you can enjoy them at the same time. After entering the school from the North 13th Gate, the 380-meter driveway is lined with ginkgo trees, which looks like a golden tunnel! No matter how you take photos, you can always take the most beautiful photos.
After taking photos, you may want to go to the nearby Central Canteen for a meal. There are a total of seven canteens on campus, and the Central Canteen is the most popular among tourists. It only provides meals to students and faculty members during the peak dining time from 11:30 to 13:00 on weekdays. The cafeteria adopts a buffet style. Ramen, rice bowl, raw beef bowl, and cheese pork chop are all very famous. The prices are cheap and it is really good value for money.
