My husband and I visited Sapporo for the New Year's holiday, and it was the perfect mix of winter beauty and delicious food. The city was blanketed in beautiful snow, and we spent our days walking through its picturesque streets, which were even more magical with the winter lights.
On New Year’s Eve, we headed to a popular ramen spot in Susukino called Keyaki. We enjoyed bowls of miso ramen, warming us up as we rang in the new year. It was the perfect way to celebrate the occasion—savoring rich, flavorful ramen in the heart of Sapporo.
One thing to note is that many shops are closed on New Year's Day, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead. But, we still managed to enjoy some amazing sushi at Triton, where we didn’t mind waiting in line for the incredibly fresh and delicious sushi—it was definitely worth it!
We stayed for three nights at Sapporo Excel Hotel Tokyu, and it was fantastic. Our room had a massage chair, which made for a super comfortable and relaxing stay after a day of exploring.
What I loved most about our Sapporo trip was that it wasn’t overrun with tourists. The atmosphere was laid-back, and we really got to enjoy the local culture without the crowds. I highly recommend this destination for a peaceful yet exciting year-end escape.
