Fukuoka Nanzoin Reclining Buddha during Cherry Blossom Season

Absolutely stunning! I highly recommend friends in Fukuoka to take a few hours to visit Nanzoin. The wild cherry blossoms here are truly the best, unlike the crowded cherry blossom viewing spots in the city.

Nanzoin's Reclining Buddha is the largest bronze statue in the world, measuring 41 meters in length, 11 meters in height, and weighing about 300 tons. It was built in 1995. Initially, I came to see this Nirvana statue, but I was moved to tears by the cherry blossoms along the way and in the mountains. Clusters of cherry blossoms are embedded in the mountains, standing beside the railway, nestled by the river, and scattered around houses. The red maples and blooming flowers complement each other, creating a picturesque and wild scene.

Being here feels like time has slowed down, allowing you to savor every cherry blossom view. Surrounded by these cherry blossoms, the meaning of the Reclining Buddha becomes more tangible: winning while lying down! In the embrace of cherry blossoms, this giant Reclining Buddha appears particularly peaceful, as if telling the story of tranquil times. Such a Nanzoin not only has an awe-inspiring Buddha statue but also mesmerizing cherry blossom scenery that makes it a rare and unmissable destination.
