Nanzoin is a great temple to visit when traveling to Fukuoka, Japan for an exciting summer vacation.

#Heart-pounding summer vacation

✨️Nanzoin✨️(南蔵院) is located in Sasaguri(篠栗), a small city in Kasuya District, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is worth coming here just to see the largest Nirvana statue in Japan lying in a long line at this temple, but there is another thing to pay attention to, and that is Nanzoin. This temple is the head temple of the Shikoku 88 Sacred Pilgrimage Sites in Fukuoka. It takes about 3 months to walk around Shikoku to visit the Sacred Pilgrimage Sites, but here in Sasaguri, you can complete the pilgrimage in 3 days by foot or in 1 day by car. When visiting each temple, you can buy a Napkyojo (main seal) at various shops in the area, so be sure to get the owner. Nanzoin was originally located in Koyasan, the head temple of Shingon Buddhism, but it was moved to Sasaguri in 1899 and remains there today.
