While strolling through the Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, you'll find a cafe you absolutely must visit: the traditional dessert cafe "Silladang Ikseon."
This cafe, which originated in Gyeongju and embodies Korean tradition, has finally opened its second location in Ikseon-dong.
The first thing that caught my eye upon entering was the mother-of-pearl interior. The subtle, gleaming mother-of-pearl cabinetry evokes a traditional charm while also exuding a sophisticated sense of space, making me want to linger for a while. The interior's ambiance made even sitting there feel like a luxurious retreat in a hanok.
The must-try here is definitely the juak. The modern interpretation of juak was refreshing, and to be honest, it almost felt like a "high-end glutinous rice donut." However, the moist, chewy texture and subtle sweetness that hit me the first bite were a definite departure from ordinary donuts. It's visually stunning, and the photos capture the vibrant colors, enough to make even my international friends exclaim, "Wow!" The packaging is also luxurious, making it a perfect gift. With a colorful selection of traditional Korean desserts, it's a place you'll be sure to delight your parents or international friends. It felt more like a small, traditional space where you can experience Korean elegance than a simple cafe.
"Silladang Ikseon" is a hanok dessert cafe where tradition and modernity coexist, offering a special experience for anyone visiting Ikseon-dong.
