Shanghai|Shanghai's No.1 Tempura Specialty Store

#TopPlacesToVisitInFebruary2025

According to my friends in Shanghai, this restaurant is one of the top tempura places in Shanghai. Whether on weekdays or weekends, you basically have to wait 30 minutes to get a seat. The set meals here cost about ¥60 per person, which is much cheaper compared to eating in Hong Kong. I came alone around 2pm during lunch and waited about 15 minutes, which wasn’t too long 😁

📍Tofu Skin Udon
The broth is light and sweet, not too strong to overpower the udon’s flavor. The udon is chewy, just the firmness I like. The tofu skin is on the sweeter side, quite a big piece, and it absorbs the broth well, making it very satisfying to eat 😋

For tempura, there are 6-7 kinds, among which I quite liked the pumpkin tempura and shrimp tempura. The ingredients are very fresh, and after frying, they are not greasy at all. Even after finishing the whole set meal alone, I didn’t feel overwhelmed 👍🏻😉

Overall, this tempura restaurant offers great value for money, and the ingredient quality is good. Although the taste isn’t mind-blowing, it definitely lives up to the price 👏🏻

💰Average cost per person: ¥60
🕰️Opening hours: 11:00-21:00
📍Address: Near the entrance of Yapingjia Supermarket, LG2-507, Basement 2, Jinhongqiao Mall, No.179 Maotai Road, Changning District

There are branches in Jinhongqiao and Xintiandi (I heard the tempura at the Jinhongqiao branch tastes even better) 👀
