Shanghai | Free tourist attraction with cultural heritage

Qibao Ancient Town is a well-known attraction located in Qibao, Minhang District, Shanghai. It’s a historic water town that combines the natural charm of southern China’s river towns with rich cultural heritage. Visitors can enjoy scenes of flowing canals and stone bridges, explore various shops, and admire traditional architecture — all of which give Qibao its unique character.

I used to come here with my family during holidays to enjoy some delicious food, take a boat ride, and stroll through the streets. There’s a wide variety of classic Shanghai snacks, especially different types of glutinous rice treats and fried delicacies, each with their own flavor. Nowadays, you can also find some cute artsy souvenirs like fridge magnets, which are quite pretty.

Qibao Old Street is open to the public free of charge, making it a great spot for a weekend visit.

📍Address: Metro Line 9 (Qibao Station)
🕘 Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
