The coolest roasted coffee spots in Shanghai

The Starbucks Reserve Shanghai Roastery is incredibly cool, boasting not only beautiful modern architecture but also a live view of the coffee roasting process! This time, my family and I chose this place for afternoon tea.
The open, warm, and lively interior makes it a perfect spot for photo ops. It's truly a stunning photo opportunity.

Starbucks Reserve Roastery
Address: N110-N201, Xingye Taikoo Hui, 789 Nanjing West Road
Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:30 AM - 10:00 PM
Highlights: The space is incredibly spacious, with incredibly high ceilings, numerous pour-over bars, and a live roasting area. Many people come here specifically to check it out. Artisanal roasting equipment and coffee culture displays are everywhere, and the central espresso machine is a truly Chinese-inspired design. The window seats are especially popular; enjoying a cup of coffee and the view of the building is a true pleasure.

This Starbucks is unlike any other. You can directly observe the entire coffee process from green beans to roasting and brewing. When you choose a coffee, the waiter will explain the various flavors in detail and offer recommendations based on your taste.
The coffees are all complex and layered. For dessert, I recommend the chocolate lava puffs, which have a touch of Italian pastry, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect with coffee. Paired with freshly baked pizza, they make a great afternoon tea combination.

I especially want to mention that, in addition to coffee, this shop also offers a dedicated line of fine wines and coffees. The martini is a truly unique experience, and many people come for afternoon tea specifically for this drink. The waiters personally visit each table to take your order, and even on weekdays, it's packed. The overall experience is very attentive. Compared to Starbucks Reserve in Italy, you don't have to wait in long lines or feel overwhelmed.

For photography, I recommend choosing a window seat in the morning or afternoon when it's less crowded. The interior and architectural views are stunning. The roasting and coffee-making areas offer stunning photos, which are a real bonus for Instagram posts. Also, be sure to take note of the roasting equipment and unique industrial design decor throughout the shop. It's also worth buying a special coffee cup as a souvenir.

Conclusion
If you're looking for a place in Shanghai that blends coffee culture, architectural aesthetics, and a vibrant local atmosphere, the Starbucks Roastery is definitely worth a visit. Whether you're enjoying a small gathering with friends or afternoon tea alone, it's a great place to soak up the atmosphere and capture some truly stunning photos!
