Breathless but Worth It – Songzanlin Monastery, Shangri-La

Visiting Songzanlin Monastery in Shangri-La was one of the most challenging yet rewarding moments of my trip. Battling high altitude sickness, every step up felt three times harder—but I kept going. Reaching the top, I was met with a breathtaking view of Meili Snow Mountain, glowing in the distance. Inside the monastery, the air was filled with incense and centuries of culture. The intricate thangka paintings, golden statues, and quiet chanting created a sense of deep peace and awe. Despite the struggle, it was a spiritual and visual experience I’ll never forget—absolutely worth every breathless moment.
