Recommended Tibetan breakfast: butter tea + barley cake.
Afternoon:
Songzanlin Monastery (Little Potala Palace)
A sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism, the red and white buildings are stunning for photos. Please respect religious customs (walk clockwise, do not step on thresholds).
Evening:
Visit a Tibetan family (optional)
Experience Tibetan songs and dances, taste yak meat hotpot, and enjoy a cup of barley wine to feel the warm atmosphere.

📅 Day 2: Natural Wonders and Secret Exploration
Morning:
Potatso National Park
Hike the Shudu Lake boardwalk, see plateau lakes and primeval forests, and possibly encounter squirrels and yak herds (ticket includes eco-shuttle).
Afternoon:
Napahai Yila Grassland
In the rainy season, it’s a lake (Napahai); in the dry season, it’s a grassland (Yila). Ride horses or cycle around the lake, the sky mirror reflecting snow mountains is breathtaking!
Evening:
Return to the ancient town and try Tibetan fragrant pork or matsutake mushroom stewed chicken (a rainy season delicacy).
📅 Day 3: Off-the-Beaten-Path Secrets and Departure
Morning:
Balagezong Grand Canyon (optional, 1.5 hours from the ancient town)
A hidden Shangri-La secret, cliffside plank roads, Buddhist pagodas, and snowy mountains—just as stunning as abroad!
Or Shika Snow Mountain: take the cable car to the top for a panoramic view of Shangri-La.
Afternoon:
Last-minute shopping before departure: Tibetan medicine, dried yak meat, handmade silverware (the "Abu Old House" in the ancient town has a good reputation).
⚠️ Travel Tips
Altitude Sickness: Avoid strenuous exercise on the first day, bring an oxygen bottle (20 RMB per can at pharmacies).
Sun Protection and Warmth: UV rays are very strong! Sunglasses + sunscreen are essential, large temperature difference between day and night, bring a windbreaker.
Respect Customs: No photography inside temples, do not spin prayer wheels counterclockwise.
