On this trip to She County, I discovered this hidden gem of a guesthouse, Huazhu·Taibai Residence. Not only is the Hui-style architecture charmingly traditional, but the location is absolutely perfect—within walking distance to Huizhou Ancient City and Yuliang Dam. The best part is they have a washer-dryer combo, which is a lifesaver for a long trip like mine!

Turn right when you step out, and you’ll find a local favorite old brand—fans of Mao tofu and stinky mandarin fish will be thrilled~

2️⃣ Perfect Spot for Photos of Ancient Architecture
Hui-style courtyard with white walls and black tiles, carved wooden windows, and stone paths. I recommend taking Hanfu photos in the courtyard at dawn or sunset (Hanfu rentals available at the guesthouse). The boat-shaped rooms and starry sky ceiling rooms are very unique, and the glass skylight is perfect for stargazing at night!

3️⃣ Details That Impress
Rooms come with smart toilets and separate wet and dry bathrooms. The most amazing feature is the public laundry room with a washer-dryer combo that solves the laundry problem on the road. They even thoughtfully provide disinfectant—germaphobes will be moved to tears!

In the morning, you can try brush calligraphy; in the afternoon, enjoy tea brewing around the stove in the tea room. The housekeeper will personally teach you how to shoot ancient-style photos, so no worries about your social media content!
