At the Teochew noodle shop on the B2 floor of Wanxiang Food Store at Shenzhen Sungang Station, I ordered a steaming bowl of fish ball and pork hor fun. The sweet broth was fragrant with chopped celery, the hand-made fish balls were chewy and plump, and the pork slices unfolded into soft curves in the broth. 🥳🥳🥳

The fried tofu I ordered was golden and crispy on the outside, and the tender white bean fragrance permeated upon biting into it. The most surprising thing was the plate of thin rice rolls, the rice wrappers rolled into a cute, chewy, sausage-like shape, drizzled with soy sauce and sesame paste, and the glittering luster on the chopsticks was enticing.

Sitting by the open kitchen, watching the chef skillfully scoop the noodles and broth, the air was filled with the flavors of Teochew and the bustling city life. This simple warmth made even a foreign stomach find home.
