Shizuoka|A Unique Experience! View Mount Fuji from the Police Headquarters and Have Lunch at the Prefectural Office Cafeteria.

This was an unplanned itinerary, but it turned out to be a rare opportunity worth sharing. Just a short walk from Sunpu Castle Park, you'll find the Shizuoka Prefectural Office, which features a free observation deck on the 21st floor offering stunning views of Mount Fuji.
As I walked closer, I noticed something unusual—the main entrance had a sign for the Police Headquarters. Don't worry, though! Floors 10 to 19 are occupied by the Shizuoka Police Headquarters, but you can confidently walk in, take the elevator to the 21st floor, and enjoy the view from above the police station.
The view of Mount Fuji is on the left side of the observation deck. Although it was a sunny day, the thick summer clouds made it hard to see clearly. The staff mentioned that the chances of seeing Mount Fuji are much higher in autumn and winter.
On my way down, I unexpectedly spotted a sign for the Prefectural Office Cafeteria, which is open to the public. I took another elevator to the 16th floor of the East Wing, where I found a ticket vending machine. I purchased a ticket for the affordable daily special and followed the locals inside. At the counter, you can choose between "A" (fried pork cutlet) or "B" (tomato-braised fish). After making your selection, grab your tray and find a seat to enjoy your meal.
The prices are budget-friendly, and the food is quite tasty. Most of the diners are prefectural office employees, and you can enjoy a meal while taking in the beautiful view of Shizuoka City. This is definitely a hidden gem that tourists wouldn't typically know about.
