Exploring Kangding

#chinatravel Kangding is one of those towns that instantly makes you slow down and take a deep breath. Surrounded by mountains and filled with fresh, crisp air, it feels worlds away from the rush of the big city. The streets are lined with a mix of Tibetan and Han influences, from colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind to cozy noodle shops serving steaming bowls of goodness.

The river that runs through town adds a peaceful soundtrack, especially when you are strolling along the banks in the evening. There are little cafés where you can sip yak butter tea, and if you are into hiking, the nearby hills and valleys are perfect for a day out. The people here are friendly, and it is easy to strike up conversations with locals who are proud to share stories about their home. Kangding might not be huge, but it has a warm, welcoming vibe that makes it feel like the perfect gateway to the mountains.
