Speaking of Sri Lanka, it's Sigiriya! The most popular World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka is Sigiriya Rock✨
From afar, a huge rock suddenly appears in the jungle, but when you look up close, you'll be overwhelmed by its size and take your breath away🥹
The mysterious World Heritage Site Sigiriya Rock is a monolith that has 1,200 steps and is 200 meters above the ground.
It is said to have been formed by the solidification of lava that erupted long ago, and is characterized by its steep cliffs and rectangular shape.
At the top, the ruins of the royal palace remain, and there is a pond called the King's Pool and many stairs, so you can feel like you've wandered into the world of Dragon Quest🤭
And from the top, you can see the endless jungle, which is simply a spectacular view! ! ! !
There are a lot of people during the day and it's quite hot to climb, so I recommend going in the evening.
[Access]
Sigiriya Rock is located in the center of Sri Lanka, about 4.5 hours by car from Colombo, about 2.5 hours from Kandy, the holy city of Buddhism, and about 30 minutes from Dambulla, famous for its Golden Temple, a World Heritage Site.
You can get there by bus from Colombo, but it takes a long time, so in Sri Lanka it is common to charter a car and go sightseeing.
[Admission fee] $36
