See Sigiriya Rock with Your Own Eyes

Mid-May

During the day, it gets quite hot, so I was advised to see the sunrise from Sigiriya Rock. I left my accommodation at 5 AM.

In the dim light, I purchased a ticket and headed towards Sigiriya Rock. As I reached a slightly open area, there it was—Sigiriya Rock right in front of me! It was truly impressive.

There are 1,200 steps to the top, and while I braced myself for the climb, the journey to the Lion's Terrace was tough. (Top image) From the Lion's Terrace, the stairs allow for a more relaxed ascent while enjoying the view. (However, it might be challenging for those with a fear of heights.)

When I reached the summit, the sun was just beginning to rise. The scenery was so magical that it left me speechless. As the sun fully rose, a breathtaking 360-degree view of nature unfolded.

I highly recommend climbing Sigiriya Rock during sunrise on a clear day! (Apparently, the sunset is also amazing.) The photos can't do justice to the view—you have to see it in person.
