Singapore is a food paradise where cuisines from various cultures blend together, true to its multicultural city vibe. Today, for those who don’t want to waste a single meal during their trip, I’m introducing 4 local favorite eateries loved by the locals.
These are places I visited two years ago and loved so much that I recently went back to, so be sure to include them in your itinerary!
[Restaurant List]
1. Newton Food Centre - 31 Heng Heng BBQ
📍 500 Clemenceau Ave N, Food Centre, Singapore 229495
✔️ Known among Korean travelers as the "Eat and Die Place," this is a famous chili crab spot.
✔️ Signature dishes are chili crab, cereal prawns, and fried rice.
🔎 Before you visit!
How to get there: 3-minute walk from Newton MRT Station
Hours: 12:00 PM - 10:30 PM (Closed every Tuesday)
Price: SGD 69 for 2 people, SGD 148 for 4 people
2. Song Fa Bak Kut Teh
📍 11 New Bridge Rd, Singapore 059383
✔️ A rich pork bone broth dish similar to Korean galbitang (beef short rib soup).
✔️ Signature dishes are Prime Spare Ribs Soup and Braised Pig's Trotter.
🔎 Before you visit!
How to get there: 4-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT Station
Hours: 10:00 AM - 9:15 PM
Ordering tip: Prime and Premium differ in meat size, with Premium being more tender. Rice is not included and must be ordered separately. Staff will keep refilling the soup as you eat.
Pro tip: The main Song Fa Bak Kut Teh branch often has long waits and is small, which can be inconvenient. If you plan to visit Sentosa Island, you can enjoy a more comfortable experience at the Song Fa Bak Kut Teh located in VivoCity.
3. Marina Bay Sands Food Court - Pepper Kitchen
📍 Rasapura Masters #B2-50 Canal Level, 2 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018972
✔️ Pepper beef rice is sizzled on a hot plate, and mixing the meat, rice, and sauce is a fun experience. The quality is excellent for the price, and it’s perfect for a quick meal before moving on.
✔️ Signature dishes are Pepper Steak and Beef Pepper Rice.
🔎 Before you visit!
How to get there: Basement 2 corner of Marina Bay Sands Food Court
Hours: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM

📍 183/185/187/189, Jln Besar, 191/193, Singapore 208882
✔️ A casual dim sum spot full of local atmosphere where you can truly feel the local vibe. I stumbled upon this place by chance, and it’s already famous among locals. The food was really delicious.
✔️ Signature dishes are Char Siew Bao and Siew Mai.
